ALTRON REPORTS SOLID INTERIM RESULTS BASED ON GOOD PERFORMANCE BY GROUP COMPANIES

The Altron group’s results for the six months ended 31 August 2005 have shown good growth with a 16% increase in headline earnings per share, 17% increase in revenue, from R6 billion for the prior period to R7 billion, and a 14% increase in operating income from R442 million to R502 million. ALTRON SHOWS STRONG GROWTH – INCREASES DIVIDEND BY 21%

The Altron group today announced good results marked by an increase in revenue of 22% to R12.2 billion compared to R10.0 billion for the prior year and improved operating income by 35% from R718 million to R968 million. Operating margins improved from 7.1% to 7.9%.

UCT FEMALE PROFESSOR WINS BILL VENTER/ALTRON LITERARY AWARD

The 2005 Bill Venter/Altron Literary Award of R50 000 has been awarded to Professor Vanessa Watson of the University of Cape Town for her outstanding academic book in the natural sciences category. The Altron Group today (Wednesday 23 February 2005) launched its Transformation Vision 2010, an internal Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) policy document which includes a group scorecard for Black Economic Empowerment.
