Our group’s Product and Services Guide is a dynamic publication which requires regular updates as we grow and acquire businesses with new ranges of products and services that we offer to our customers. This year, we have focused on a complete review of the guide and have also included some user-friendly aspects such as key words associated with the company’s products and services for easier reference and search purposes.

The Altron Product and Services Guide is available on our website at www.altron.com and is continually updated to accommodate changes.

Our three principal operating groups, Altech, Powertech and Bytes, represent businesses and operations in the electrical manufacturing field, telecommunications, power electronics, multi-media and information technology sectors. Our group is South African-based, but we also have a significant international investment through many of our companies that are currently operating throughout Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Oceania and Asia as well as through a well established export programme.

Altron maintains a number of key strategic, technology-based partnerships with leading international corporations such as ABB, Alcatel-Lucent, Arrow Electronics, Axalto, Cisco Systems, Datacard, Dell, Eaton, Gemalto, Genesys, HP, IBM, Kronos, Metastorm, Microsoft, Motorola, NCR, NetApp, Oracle, SAP AG, Seacom, Tridonic, Tyco, Van Roll Isola, Weidemann, Xerox Corporation and many others.

Altron measures the group’s Black Economic Empowerment transformation progress against the Department of Trade and Industry’s Codes of Good Practice (dti CoGP). During the last financial year, the group achieved an overall score of 65.30%, or Level 4 Recognition, compared with its previous score of 54.85%. Altron was also listed in the Financial Mail/Empowerdex Top Empowerment Companies 2010 Survey, with an overall placement of second in the General Industrial category. In terms of Skills Development, Altron was ranked number one with a total score of 15 up from the previous year’s sixth position. Overall, Altron was rated 34th empowered company in South Africa and Altech rated at 49th. Altech was rated 7th empowered company within the ICT sector and 6th in terms of procurement from black-owned and empowered companies. All operations at Altech, Powertech and Bytes were audited by rating agency Empowerdex.

Altron's Black Economic Empowerment partnerships include Pamodzi and Thebe within Altech; Izingwe, Kagiso, Mahogany Capital and Power Matla within Powertech; and Kagiso within Bytes. During 2008 significant progress has been made with the launch of our Transformation Vision 2012 which is the internal guideline aligned to the dti BEE Codes of Good Practice for the various BEE indicators including skills development, employment equity, affirmative procurement, enterprise development and corporate social investment.

Our management philosophy encourages our businesses to operate autonomously in an environment of market awareness with a strong emphasis on customer focus. We place our customer needs at the forefront resulting in significant emphasis on technological innovation both through internal investment and international partnerships; our total commitment to quality, best practice, and the improvement of productivity, manufacturing and distribution efficiency.

As a supplier our commitment to excellence and attention to detail remains our highest priority. We see it as the foundation to providing superior value through our many products and services.
