Powertech Transformers to power De Aar wind farms

Powertech Transformers, Pretoria West, has received an order for two 60MVA 132/33kV and two 80MVA 132/33kV transformers from Adenco for the De Aar 1 and 2 wind farms.

The transformers will be delivered, installed and handed-over on site by end September 2016. Powertech Transformers also received orders for all distribution transformers, namely one hundred and sixty three 1800kVA 0.690/33kV units, for two other De Aar wind farms – Noord 2 North and De Aar 1 Maanhaarberg. Delivery will begin in April 2016. The project will contribute significantly to the continued employment of 693 employees and to the local manufacturing industry.  Bernard Meyer, CEO of Powertech Transformers, had the following to say regarding the two orders: We managed to win these orders against strong competition, both locally and internationally, due to our in-house designs which are developed by local talent.
