Altron employees in recognition ceremony at Altron Bill Venter Academy

Today Altron recognized at a ceremony, 158 of its employees who have graduated from various South African tertiary institutions in a programme facilitated by the Altron Bill Venter Academy.

The employees completed degrees, diplomas and certificates in programmes ranging from computer science, business administration, leadership to engineering. The top student of the 2018 New Managers Development Programme delivered by the University of Stellenbosch Business School was Tembisile Vernon Vilakazi of Altron Bytes Managed Solutions. This programme focuses on developing a participant’s skills and knowledge by enhancing their management and leadership competencies while equipping them with the confidence and the capabilities to respond effectively to current and future business challenges.

Commenting on the recognition event, Dolores Mashishi, Group Executive: Human Capital, said: “The Academy exists to provide a pool of tech-savvy professionals who will not only close the skills gap but employ creative solutions to current and future problems through innovative products and services.”

Mashishi also stated that the Academy enabled the company to continuously produce competent and highly skilled employees that contributed to the success of Altron.

Igshaan Soules, Managing Director of Altron Bytes People Solutions and Director of Studies at the Academy explained, “This Academy is an expression of our ongoing efforts to innovate and offer learning solutions that matter and have an impact. Through the learning solutions that the Academy is providing, we will enhance and build a new capability to extend Altron’s expertise in the market and also leverage on these skills to build a sustainable workforce that is future-focused and success driven.”

In partnership with both public and private higher education institutions in South Africa, the Academy offers Altron employees an opportunity to study a wide range of programmes ranging from short learning programmes to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that equip them to master future critical skills in response to the demands of the business and the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

The Academy was originally founded in 2007 with the aim of sustaining and developing skills in the Altron Group. The academy’s curriculum, which is developed through input from the group’s business leaders, is aligned to the areas of management and leadership development, specialised and scarce ICT skills and customer service.
