Fraud Awareness: Be warned of fraudulent requests for quotes /orders

It has come to Altrons attention that the trademarked name and logo of Bytes Technology Group have been unlawfully copied and are being used to create false quotations and other stationery purporting to be from the real Bytes Technology Group.Fraudsters would send a fictitious RFQ from what seems to be a Bytes Technology Group email address, use a fake RFQ form with a Bytes logo and contact details of the contact person. These requests are usually urgent and the whole process is concluded within a short period of time. During the process the Procurement Official will be in contact with the unsuspecting service provider until the goods are delivered to an agreed address. Customers, suppliers and business partners are advised to take special care when approached by anyone allegedly representing Bytes Technology Group, who is requesting to do business with them.  It is recommended that customers confirm all RFQs and orders by calling their respective Bytes sales representative or account manager to verify authenticity prior to responding to any RFQs or orders to avoid falling prey to these fraudsters. Customers can also contact Altron or Bytes Technology Group directly by utilising the contact details on the respective official websites (www.bytes.co.za; www.altron.com).Altron is investigating this matter and will take all necessary steps to prevent any further unlawful use and passing-off of its registered trademarks, which are being infringed by the imposter. In addition, the actions of the imposter are unlawful and Altron will open a criminal case with the South African Police Service.
